Superintendent Al Conner was saved at the age of eleven, during a summer revival at First Church of God in Christ, Pueblo, Colorado, under the Pastorate of the late Bishop Dennis D. Burger. He was faithful to Sunday School and YPWW and served as one of the choir directors until 1966, when he joined the Air Force. He has been a musician for many years including playing in the band during his school years and learning how to play the piano via lessons from Mother Mary Baker. He was honorably discharged from the Air Force in 1969 to complete his undergraduate education at Colorado State University-Pueblo (formerly Southern Colorado State College). In 1972, he married Sis. Iola Ware of Omaha, Nebraska, and the couple moved to Denver and united with Jerusalem Church of God in Christ in early 1973. In 1989, Superintendent Conner won the Denver Gospel award for “Producer of the Year” for his show, Metro Notes, that featured local gospel singers, groups, and choirs. In 2010, he was appointed by Bishop Rossevelt Dunn, the Chairman of the Colorado Jurisdiction for Churches of God In Christ (JOC) Ordination Board.
First Lady Iola Conner was saved in 1968 at Faith Temple Church of God in Christ in Omaha, Nebraska, under the late Bishop Vernon Richardson. She served as the secretary of the Sunday School Department, the Usher Board as well as the announcer for the church’s radio broadcast. First Lady Conner completed her undergraduate education in 1972 at Creighton University in Omaha and has furthered her education at CSU-Denver and University of Phoenix. In 1999 she received the National Council of Negro Women (N.C.N.W), for the Denver Chapter, Acheviement Award. In 2006, First Lady Conner retired as a teacher after twenty-three years for the Denver Public Schools (DPS)
Superintendent and First Lady Conner were faithful members of Greater Temple of Jerusalem since they united with the church in early 1973. Superintendent served as the Minister of Music, pianist, bass, organist, Sunday School Superintendent, Deacon, as well as the Assistant Pastor. In addition: he serves as the secretary and an instructor of the Colorado Jurisdiction Church of God in Christ Ordination Board until 2010 when he was appointed the President. First Lady Conner joined the Usher Board, sang in the choir, and served as youth teacher of the Sunday School for many years. She also serverd as a Deaconess and Sunday School Superintendent.
New Covenant Church of God In Christ (C.O.G.I.C.), Incorporated was founded by Superintendent and First Lady Conner early fall in 2006 with just five members. On January 1, 2007, the first offical service was held in a small "store front " church at 34th and Franklin (Denver,CO). God have blessed the ministry to out grow the building in February 2008, and have since been on 3801 High Street (Denver, CO) with over five ministries and with a congregation of over fifty.
On January 6, 2011, Superintendent Al Conner was appointed by Bishop Roosevelt Dunn as Superintendent over the New Dimension District.
